These drop-ins teach you how to create songs on the spot in a musical theatre style. You will learn games that help you build lyrics quickly, explore character through song and try out everything from pop numbers to love ballads, big musical finales and hip hop. The sessions are playful, energetic and genuinely freeing.
WHAT IS MUSICAL IMPROV?
Musical improv is a style of improv where performers make up songs, lyrics and stories in the moment, usually guided by an audience suggestion. Backing tracks or live musicians provide support while the cast creates music on the fly. It ranges from long form pieces that feel like improvised musical theatre to short form games where you invent funny lyrics to pre-existing tunes such as Hoedown or Irish Drinking Song.

TAKE YOUR IMPROV TO THE NEXT LEVEL
The Dingbats Improv Labs are similar to our our Workshops, but we'll putting our improv skill under a powerful microscope and poking it with a spatula. What that means is that it's for experienced improvisers.
As well as doing exercises to further develop our teamwork and listening skills, the Labs will focus on learning advanced techniques, long-form structures, narrative and Game of the Scene.
Each week is something completely different and exciting! One week we might be diving deep into character and the next week we could be practicing new long-form structures. regardless of the topic, they are guaranteed fun and great way to develop your skills further.
