WHAT

An introduction the improv format 'Harold' in a fun and supportive series of workshops!

WHAT

Enhance your improv skills with our upcoming advanced improv course, which will introduce you to the Harold, a renowned long-form improv structure. First performed in California in 1967 by The Committee, the Harold format is globally celebrated, practiced and performed by numerous improv groups.

In this structure, an improv team will collaboratively create a number of characters and scenarios, sparked by a single audience suggestion. These are then explored further through more scenes, cleverly interconnected through emerging themes, offering the opportunity to create some funny and meaningful improv.

Regarded as an excellent training-wheel for refining advanced improv techniques, the Harold format is a playful yet effective way to enhance your long-form improv skills.

The course will delve into various aspects of the Harold, including:

- Performing engaging (and useful) openings

- Initiating premise-driven scenes

- Developing the 'Game of the Scene' across multiple beats

- Reincorporation

Spanning six weekly workshops, you'll learn and develop as a team. Like all Dingbats classes, this course emphasises fun and learning through a mix of improv games, exercises, and scene practice, all while diving into this exciting format.

WHO

As this course teaches an advanced improv structure, attendees must have improv experience, specifically knowledge and practice of Game of the Scene. If you are new to improv, we recommend you start by attending the weekly drop-in workshops or attending our Beginners Improv Course first.

The course will be run by Ed Pithie who has been teaching improv with Dingbats Improv for over nine years.
